WHAT IS HER STORY?
Her story begins with her birth names: Tatum, meaning “cheerful bringer of joy,” and Careyes, inspired by the enchanting land of Costa Careyes in Mexico — a place of mystery, beauty, and cosmic wonder. Together, her names perfectly capture who she is: a radiant, joyful being whose energy and light bring vibrancy and magic into the world.
At just nine years old, Tatum began suddenly channeling visuals from what she describes as extraterrestrial beings. While others dismissed it as “imagination,” she knew it was real — a real connection to unseen energies that would shape her life and artistry. Today, as a young adult, she says these channels are more powerful, more vivid, and more present than ever, flowing through her life with a calm clarity that profoundly guides her work.
As she grew, Tatum’s creativity blossomed from visual art into music, which she calls “painting with frequencies.” Mixing sound, rhythm, and dance, her music blends in synergy with her electric spirit — inviting listeners to experience her universe through movement and sound.
Today, Tatum Careyes is a multidimensional artist and performer, bridging worlds through her hands, her voice, and her essence. She continues to explore, evolve, and create, while producing highly unique and sought after creative works. And while she has already shared so much, the real story of Tatum Careyes has only just begun.
Tatum Careyes was born in London, UK, to beautifully unconventional parents who believed in learning through life itself. They traveled together across the world, visiting Africa, Mexico, Asia, and beyond. In every country, they not only immersed themselves in rich culture, but also, her parents became known for throwing out-of-this-world celebrations filled with music, entertainment, and magic.
It was in this vibrant environment that Tatum’s love for performing and eclectic fashion began to bloom - reflecting the vivid, exotic world she was growing up in. However, Tatum also had periods in traditional schools. There she struggled with dyslexia and could not mold into the standardised systems, but she never let that stop her from pursuing her inner gifts and expressing them in her unique style.
When she was seven, her family moved to the enchanted land of Costa Careyes. A few years later, Tatum began to channel (in dreams and waking life) from what she calls extraterrestrial beings. She desperately wanted to communicate her visions in visual form, so she asked her father for art lessons. Her father was devoted to Tatum nurturing all her talents - inspiring and supporting her all the way. He believed in her potential with unwavering trust, even in the hardest moments when she could not see it herself.
Tragically, her father passed away before he could “physically” see her blossom into who she is today, living the dream they shared together. That dream is what drove her to continue creating, despite the immense hole his loss left behind. During this time, her sister, Gatsby, became her biggest supporter, protector, and hero, helping Tatum honor their father’s dream, while nurturing her artistic and personal growth, and inspiring her to expand in ways she never imagined.
After high school, Tatum entered a period of transformation. This four-year journey of self-discovery led her deeper into music, where she found another playground for expression. Her mother, Priscilla, became her number one fan and guide, attending every DJ set and performance, and introducing her to mentors and producers.
With all these life experiences and family support, Tatum fully embraced her multidimensional artistry, blending visual art, music, performance, and cosmic channeling into a singular, radiant expression of who she is.
